Quality and Standards

The Royal College of Veterinary Surgeons (RCVS) is the regulatory body for the veterinary profession in the UK. All practising veterinary surgeons are required to be members of the RCVS before they can work in this country.  Seadown Veterinary Group also participates in the practice standards scheme, run by the RCVS. This means we are regularly inspected and must comply with specific legal and health and safety requirements. It also means we have a requirement to:

  • Communicate with clients and look at feedback
  • Ensure clients can be given estimates of treatment costs and consent to procedures undertaken
  • Have access to laboratory facilities for diagnostic testing
  • Have an ongoing commitment to education and training of staff

At our accredited Hythe hospital, we also:

  • Provide on site nursing care round the clock, with a veterinary surgeon available 24 hours a day to attend to in-patients and emergencies if required
  • Maintain and improve clinical standards
  • Provide a wide range of specific diagnostic equipment, for example an ECG and ultrasound
  • Maintain cleanliness and sterility on our premises
