Long climbs through the Highlands
Riding for Rita

 23 May 2019

We left Tyndrum in 6 degrees, so some more substantial clothing required!

A couple of long climbs through the Highlands, with the wind and rain becoming steadily more established, did make me question why I was doing this! However the Lochs and snow-topped mountains were unlike anything I had seen before and a warming lunch near Fort William soon revived us!

The weather was more charitable in the afternoon and we cycled along quiet country lanes with views of the Caledonian canal, before picking up the scenic but rather bumpy cycle path to Fort Augustus! Tonight we are staying in a lovely B & B, with very friendly hosts and views of Loch Lomond. We are looking forward to breakfast in the morning by the Aga!
